It's been a very busy week as i'm sure it's been for many of you too. My week began by learning that one of my patient's had to escape her burning apartment by jumping out the window. The baby is fine, but my patient has 2 broken feet and is stuck in a wheelchair for the next few months. And they lost everything. I've been busy collecting stuff to take to her to help her rebuild all that she's lost.I then was told that the baby for which I was there for the delivery of last week has Down's Syndrome. Those of you who know me know the soft spot I have for special needs children & how much I enjoy working with them. This little guy has definately become a very special baby and he touches my heart in a way I can't put into words. I spent some time w/ him today. He is absolutely adorable and it's been such a pleasure to work w/ him and his family to get him the services that he needs. Since i'm not going home for Christmas this year, i've decided to spend part of my day sharing a meal w/ my roommate and the other part of my day will be spent taking Christmas dinner to this family to ensure that they have a Merry Christmas despite the long, hard week they've just been through. In other news...I started physical therapy for my shoulder today. It went very well and i'm very impressed w/ the Dr and the practice i'm working with. They're also going to try to help me with the gawd awful shin splints that I suffer from when I run. YAY!! I'm willing to try anything to get rid of and/or ease the pain that I get from them.Well, I'm off to enjoy a relaxing weekend. I hope you are too. If you're traveling for the holidays, please be safe. The roads started getting insane around lunchtime today so be careful.
