RIP: Uncle Buddy

Vernon E. "Buddy" "Andy" AndersonSHREVEPORT, LA- Mr. Vernon E. "Buddy" "Andy" Anderson, 79, passed away at Willis-Knighton North Medical Center on Monday, April 7, 2008 after a brief courageous battle with leukemia. Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 10th at Osborn Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 11, 2008 at Couch Chapel of First United Methodist Church. Officiating will be Dr. Pat Day. Interment will follow at Forest Park Cemetery.Mr. Anderson was a native of Georgetown, SC and a resident of Shreveport since 1950. He was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church and usher for 12 years. For the last 6 years, a member of the Bible Study Fellowship. He served as President for several years for the Parents Association at the Northwest Development Center, currently serving as Vice President and served on the Board of Directors at Pinecrest School. Mr. Anderson served his country during the Korean conflict from 1950 until 1954. He was a Chief Draftsman for several companies for all of his adult life. Loving husband, father and grandfather, his love and passion for Clemson and LSU Tiger Football was shared with all his loved ones. He was a man of faith who loved his God, family, and country. Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by his father, George Durant Anderson; mother, Louise Huggins Anderson; sister, Louise Cowart; brother, William Anderson; and son-in-law, David Ralph Ingram. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sue Johnson Anderson; daughters, Evelyn Louise Anderson of Bossier City, LA, Mary Carol Anderson Kenny Ingram and Laura Leigh Anderson McDonald Nader both of Shreveport; grandchildren, Austin Anderson McDonald and Michael Shane McDonald both of Amarillo, TX; brother, George Durant Anderson of Wellington, FL; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved Cricket.Pallbearers will be Austin and Michael McDonald, Gary Burt, David Denmon, Fred Bowlin, Buddy Matthews, John George and John Iles.Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Bible Study Fellowship.The family requests that memorials be made to the Parents Association of the Northwest Development Center, 5401 Shed Road, Bossier City, LA 71111 or the Television Ministry at First United Methodist Church.The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Sally Ball, the Hematology/Oncology Associates at W-K Cancer Center and a special thank you to Dr. Paul "Corky" Davis.
