First ever Women's 7's National Championship

Ladies,

I'm very excited to announce that in 2009 there will be the first ever Women's 7's National Championship. Much like the Women's Division II Championship (www.wdiirugby. org), this is an invitational event and not sponsored by USA Rugby. However, the organization of this tournament is a step towards having USA Rugby include a Women's Club 7's Championship in their portfolio of events.

In order to determine the representative teams from USA Rugby South, a women's bracket has been added to the South 7's Championship event on July 18/19 in Columbus (Fort Benning) GA. If your club has aspirations of competing for the 7's National Championship, this is the venue to attend. This event is open to all women's teams in the South (club or collegiate) and we will be following the same 7's eligibility requirements the men currently follow. While there are many more details to be worked out in the coming months, the most important first step is to put this event on your club calendar NOW.

As evidenced by the performance of the USA women in Dubai, our country has much to offer in the 7s arena. We can start preparing players for the 2013 7s RWC now by providing the best possible 7s competition possible. Get organized for July 18/19 and Aug 15/16 and PLAY 7s!
