The remainder of this year is about to become a busy one for me. Lots of things are happening and/or in the works to happen. Here's the breakdown of what's to come....
1. The rest of the summer will include the remaining summer 7's tourneys. Even though I've not been able to play, I've had a blast drinking GF beer & cheering everyone on from the sidelines. The next big adventure will be Bele Chere in Asheville in late July. I can't wait to go home to my mountains, see my cousin(s) and hopefully see a few old friends while I'm in the area for some mountain rugby. And of course we'll also take in the Bele Chere festival! Roxy & I are also going to the beach for a week. We scored an amazing oceanfront deal so we'll be hanging out at Topsail Island and I can't WAIT!! Those are the highlights of fun but I'm sure there will be plenty of other fun moments in between those before it's all said and done.
2. I've begun the search for somewhere to move. My hope is to be moved in somewhere by September. I'm getting excited at the thought of having a place to call home again for Roxy & I and I cannot wait to get my crap outta storage and live life more settled vs. the gypsy status I've maintained for the past few years. HAHA!
3. I found out on Wednesday that I have to have shoulder surgery. If your a sports person, the procedure is very similiar to the surgery that Bret Farve had just recently. Basically what will happen is Dr. Toth will perform arthroscopic surgery by going in and cutting out the torn/stretched out & inflamed bicep tendon & then reattaching it by inserting a screw into the bone. I will be slung up and in contrapment for about 3-4 weeks and will have to go thru PT for about 8 weeks for a total of 3 months total surgery & recovery time with the end result being back to "normal" and operating at full capacity with no more pain!!!
So...the magic question everyone is asking is WHEN?? Well, I refuse to be slung up and in contrapment in this horrid summer heat and I'd really prefer to get moved into my own place first as well. So, the tentative time frame is Oct-Nov. I have to work out some logistics as it pertains to work, other events I'm involved in this fall as well as get things prepared beforehand as it relates to things like my dog Roxy, getting my hair washed since I won't be able to lift or move my left side for several weeks, preparing lots of meals ahead of time that I can freeze, etc. I'll keep ya'll posted....
4. October will bring beer fest and what's even more exciting is I hope my best friend Phil will really get to come home for a visit FINALLY. If so, we'll be having a reunion of sorts in Charlotte and for sure heading to the race. I can't wait!! November I'll be going back to Asheville for my friend's Nick & Angie's wedding. Looking forward to seeing all the cowboys trickle in from Texas. Should be a good time w/ good Texas country tunes & cold beer.
5. I've been super busy getting things ready for the upcoming fical year for the UGA Reserach Triangle Chapter as football will be kicking off before too long. We've got some great things planned so I'm looking forward to getting the year kicked off and seeing where this takes out chapter.
6. I'm also busy kicking up an AMBUCS Friend's Chapter for the RDU area. I am SUPER excited about this opportunity. It's something I've wanted to do for some time and I'm thrilled at getting the chance to help raise fund for kiddos to receive AmTrykes as well as meeting new people all along the way. I'll be blogging soon about what AMBUCS is and what an AmTryke is and how you can join.
Okay...I think that about sums it up. Oh wait, one last thing...I've been working hard at my training for a 5k. I'm up to 2 miles. Only one more mile to master and then I'll be 5k ready to run!!
