I'm approximately 2.5 weeks post surgery and overall things are going pretty good. I had my post-op appointment this week where they removed my stiches and said that things are looking good. I continue w/ physical therapy several times a week and my PT says I'm progressing well & that I'm right where I should be. The entire healing and rehab process is going to be a very slow one & it requires a great amount of patience & discipline. Especially for someone like myself who's used to being on the go all the time. The protocol for recovery is very strict since the slightest wrong move could wreck everything. I've been doing really well @ adhering to the "rules". The only "lecture" I got from the Dr was about my sleep/rest. I have to wear the contraption 24/7 (which btw, is technically called the "Slingshot 2" and makes me laugh everytime I think about it. You can google it to prove I'm not making this up). Anyway, since I have to sleep in the contraption it's very difficult to get comfortable @ night which means I'm getting very little sleep. Hopefully the modifications we discussed will help w/ this issue and I'll start to sleep soon. The really GOOD NEWS is that the Dr said I will NOT turn 35 slung up!!!!! Wahoooooooo!!!! Looks like I'll be discharged from wearing the contraption sometime around the week of Dec. 7th!!!
There's lots of other day to day tidbits about post-surgery I could share, but for now I'll just say that some things have been easier than I expected, some things more difficult and some things I never expected at all. I've learned to get along well and adjust as needed and I have some great friends who are always a phone call away if I need anything @ all. Thanks again to all of you who've checked-in on me, offered to help out, the un-ending encouragement and for keeping me entertained & laughing.
