Shoulder Rehab Report....

I had follow-up appointment this week w/ my orthopedic and overall I got a really good report. She's very pleased w/ my ROM (range of motion), but I still have to focus in on some specific areas mostly associated with the bicep area to be considered @ full ROM. She's given me very specific PT exercises for this to which I'm required to do daily. They hurt like hell, I might add. :)

In addition, every other day I have an intense strengthening program to follow for the next 4 weeks. The Dr. wants me @ a 12-15lb weight by the time these next 4 weeks are up. Today I reached the 5lb weight. While that's very exciting, I'm not gonna lie....it's HARD work. Currently I have no muscle in my left bicep area @ all. :( The reality is that I still have a lot of work to do & many more months of strength training ahead in order for me to gain back my strength and muscle in my entire left arm/shoulder/bicep/tricep.

In cardio news....the Dr. released me to run!!!!! However, she's instructed me to ease back into running as I have to listen to my body & not "over jostle" my shoulder. I did my first 2 mile run Thursday morning which went really well. But I could definately feel what she meant by the shoulder being "jostled". I could feel it afterwards a bit. My goal is that I hope to be back @ being able to run a 5k before too long & be able to participate in some 5k runs in/around the area. In other cardio news, I am continuing with hiking when I can. There's several different hiking clubs here so there's always some hike scheduled which is cool. And I'm also @ the gym almost daily where I'm cycling an average of 13 miles. My goal is to reach 15 miles within the next week. I'm also able to do some ab work, lunges, etc.

The road to recovery continues and everyday I'm another day closer to being on the pitch again!!!!
