Partnership for a Healthy NC....????....???? And so it begins.....

Due to the nature of my job & working in the Medicaid "sector", I laughed out loud (let it be know I laughed very loudly and for several moments) regarding the part in this video where they discuss "one system"(as in IT system). If you were in mine line of work you too would be in hysterics. On a serious note, while some of this proposal makes sense, there are parts that have me shaking my head, yet again, as the state folks who sit in the ivory tower making these decisions/proposals CLEARLY have NO CLUE what we do, the types of individuals we come in contact with & the array of situations that we are faced with. FOR ONCE, I wish those in the ivory tower would talk to those of us that are the boots on the ground each day working w/ these people, or better yet, come to work with me and see for yourself. Furthermore, I wish FOR ONCE the state would hold those individuals receiving "benefits" accountable. It shouldn't be MY responsibility....the state needs to make changes that hold individuals receiving benefits accountable hence requiring them to be responsible. I'm not talking about your disabled or mentally ill folks. That is a whole separate rant of mine. The "individuals" that I am talking about are those who COULD go to work, but instead sit home on their lazy ass collecting while I'm working 2 jobs and itemizing life on "wants" & "needs". I need food on my table so I don't have cable. I need gas in my car to get to my 2 jobs, so I don't have internet (I'm at my 2nd job if you're wondering how I'm posting this). I need to maintain my health b/c I have Celiac Disease, so I go without new clothes, getting my hair done regularly and I sure don't get my nails done so that I can afford to buy healthy foods & the supplements I have to take to stay healthy. Oh and let's not forget, I've been paying off medical bills (simply my 20% as required by my insurance company) for the past 5 years. I just made my last payment on Monday. I make priorities. I don't expect handouts. I have always & continue to work hard for everything I have. There is nothing more aggravating to me than working with a client who is capable of working but chooses not to b/c her "benefits" do everything for her. What a crock of shit! I'm of the opinion that until the state starts putting the hammer down & our current President stops with the handouts & putting us financially in a deeper toilet bowl, not a whole lot is gonna change. I do however, look forward to seeing how the Partnership for a Healthy NC plays out. Me thinks it's gonna be like a muddy rugby game against your biggest rival.
