1st group run EVER = Intervals
Training lasted an hour & it was my 1st group run EVER. It was
cool, I met some really nice folks. BUT...leave it to me to somehow
wind up w/ the wrong training group (which wound up being a great
workout & I learned some stuff & luckily they were really nice
to me and didn't send me packing). So we run down to this greenway
where we gather & the Coach tells us to do a warm-up thingy where I
had to count 20 steps running my shell off, then 20 more at pace then
break for 40s and do it all over again. I'm thinking "I wonder where
the rest of the group is. Why are there only 4 of us". But I'm new
& apparently clueless so I'll just do what the Coach says. I
survived that 1/2 mile "warm-up" w/ no problems. I get back to the start
point & the next thing I know we're running a mile of INTERVALS. I
hadn't a clue what an interval was or the point of such, so again, I
just did what Coach said. After completing the first interval he asked
me "hi, ummm, who are you", I said "I'm Turtle". He informed me every so kindly
that I was with the wrong group but that it was okay and did I wanna run
some more intervals? I stuck w/ the group & ran all three
intervals. Good workout. My times were 3:50, 3:44 & 4:01. And I
have no clue what this means other than if I add them up it makes my time for running a mile look pretty good @ 10.95. HAAAAAAHAAAAAHAAAAAA!!!
