I participated in my first ever 10K race this Saturday. It was a good training tool as I continue to work towards my 1/2 marathon. My time was 1:12, I came in dead last in my age group and I finished 86th out of 91 runners. Yes, that's 6th to last place overall.
While the results stated above are not stunning, I will not allow myself to get bogged down by them. The time in which I completed the race was an improvement for me and I ran the entire race without stopping, including killing every hill (and there were several rolling hills). I am very proud of myself!
I have never been able to run past a 5k and here I am writing about my accomplishment in completing my first 10K. While running is a struggle for me, I am doing it one mile at a time!!! So if I come in last for the rest of my running days, who cares. I like to think of it as saving the best for last. HA!
