On the Farm with Team RWB

I was back at the farm again this past weekend.  Super exciting to see the stalls up and the electrical guys were there rewiring everything.  If you scroll back through my blog, you'll see former pictures of this area which will show you the improvements that have been happening along the way.  It's shaping up nicely.

Today was the first "Volunteer Day" on the new farm (Old Glory Legacy Foundation).  The Team RWB chapter that I'm a part of came out to help today and together we conquered a lot of tasks.  We hauled wood, metal & filled the dump truck full of trash that we collected and/or dug up.  Today was my first time ever riding in a dump truck.  It was quite the experience.  HA!

There was one area that required a lot of TLC.  Whoever lived on the land previously did not excel in upkeep of the farm.  We discovered a "dumping area" where we retrieved things that had been there for who knows how long.  I didn't get actual "before pics", these are more like "mid-way through clean up" pics and then the I have some "after pics".  The stuff you see here doesn't even begin to capture the stuff that my teammates pulled out before I got out there to this part of the farm to help.  Stuff (carpet, insulation, wood fencing, etc.) was buried with roots growing on top of it.  Kudos to everyone from Team RWB for helping to knock this out & restore nature's beauty as it should be.
     

 AFTER:

One of the other tasks that I got to help with was getting into the farm house.  The former tenant vacated the property, locking all the doors leaving the keys on the counter (locked inside).  I was able to get the bathroom window open & crawl through.  However, the keys on the counter....didn't fit ANY of the door locks.  No worries though, all new locks were installed to resolve this problem.

I am really proud to be a member of Team RWB.  What I have found in this organization thus far is that the folks involved come together for the greater good and in support of our military and their families.  It's been a really good fit for me and a pleasure to meet so many other individuals who, like me, enjoy giving back & paying it forward.
