This came from my friend (she's also one of my fabulous roommates from college) whose Dad is being honored in the walk for cancer below. Check it out and consider walking or making a donation. Thanks!
"As many of you know, my dad was diagnosed with non-hodgkins lymphoma in December of 2008. Of the 90+ types of lymphoma, his is one of the most rare and the most aggressive (peripheral t-cell lymphoma). Chemotherapy knocked it out earlier this year but unfortunately, his remission lasted just a couple of months.
In August, he started a fierce, multi-day chemo regimen. We're awaiting his pet scan results in the next few days and as soon as he's back in remission the paperwork will be started to admit him to the new cancer center at UNC for a stem cell transplant. Because of the rarity of his cancer, he has become quite the celebrity in the world of oncology and the folks over at UNC are eagerly awaiting the opportunity to help him kick cancer's ass!
With all of that said, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society has organized a 2 mile walk in downtown Raleigh on Saturday, October 17th. The church my parents attend, Pleasant Grove UMC in Raleigh, has organized a team to walk in honor of my dad (Gene Kennedy) and another member of the church who has leukemia. The link to the team's site is below. You can join the team if you want or donate there. I understand that the economic climate is not ripe for hefty donations, but every little bit is appreciated. If you're not able to donate or walk, please keep my family in your thoughts and prayers."
Sincerely,
Fran
