This weekend I really want a movement to take hold.

I really want everyone (of age) to stand up and say "We won and we will celebrate any way we please!"

Thursday night the Canadian Women's hockey team took gold in the Olympics and were true champions. They shook the hands of their valiant US opponents after tight 2-0 game and left the ice crowned the best in the world. However, because these women decided -- after the fans had left -- to have a private celebration that included beer, champagne and cigars back out on the ice - they have been chopped down.

I see nothing wrong with what these champions did -- in fact I applaud them for their natural, effervescent enthusiasm that was a delight to see. But waking up this morning and seeing an apology made on behalf of these women just diminished a natural reaction.

In that vein, I would like to call anyone who reads this to action. Saturday is a rugby day. Saturday is a celebrate all sports and all who play sports day. And, I want anyone who wins (or just feels like it) to take their celebration back to the field -- and if you are of legal age and regulations allow -- bring a beer, some champagne, a cigar or just a bottle of water with you.

Do it to support your hockey brethren who acted like women and champion! Do it because winning is meant to be fun and enjoyed with those around you.

Take a picture of yourself and post it on your social media network of choice and tell the world that you appreciate the social side of a sport that goes with the physical. That you understand celebrating, commiserating and just having fun with your teammates is essential -- and that no one should ever have to say sorry for enjoying the spoils of a great accomplishment.
