Winter Training....and SHOES!

Attended my 1st group run with Team RWB this past weekend.  Nice group of folks.  The temps were pretty chilly and the wind gusts were wild.  Once we got moving I warmed up with no problems.  I also learned a new found love for hand-warmers (thank you Daisy).  Overall the run went really well which surprised me after having been laid up with a chest cold the earlier part of the week.

One thing I will tell you is that training in the Winter is wayyy different than training in the Spring, Summer & Fall.  So I am learning to layer.  And I find myself wanting to jump like Van Halen when I get out on a run and I've successfully layered correctly.  Layering correctly makes me feel like a winner against Winter.  HA!

I recently bought a new Turtle Fur wind/ear/face mask that should do me big favors on any future bitter cold & windy days.  And my fleece running gloves are working out well for the bitterly cold days.  All I need now is to invest in some warmer running socks....lord knows I don't need any running shoes.  I clearly have plenty....I just threw one pair away so I've gone from 10 pairs of runners/cross trainers down to nine.  And for the record, only 4 pairs of these seen here in this photo are shoes that I run/train in.  The other 3 pairs shown here are shoes that I wear to work or are my casual wearing shoes.  The last 2 pairs of cross trainers are my "yard shoes" and they are sitting out on my front porch (not pictured here b/c they are caked in yard mush).
