OEW Year End Report

I continue to be involved as an OCA with Operation Enduring Warrior (OEW).  It's a great organization founded and ran by veterans to support other veterans including the wounded.  The organization has had a great year with lots of growth.  Below are some bits and pieces from the annual newsletter....

STOCKINGS TO WOUNDED VETERANS
On Monday December 8th, the OEW team packed the trucks and headed over to Walter Reed. We handed out 150 stockings and talked to many people about what we do. We also had several people at Walter Reed ask about how they could get involved. Later in the afternoon, our team went went down to the CrossFit Walter Reed gym and did a WOD with the crew there. We were happy to meet with Linda Rasnacke of the Warrior Transition Brigade as well. It was a great day and we look forward to going back.

On Tuesday, December 9th, OEW Race Program Manager, Jared Bullock and his wife Jesica, along with OCAs went to the Center for the Intrepid in San Antonio, Texas and delivered 40 stockings to wounded veterans there. They visited each floor and engaged wounded service members on what programs we offer. They also gave the staff OEW coins to thank them for their hard work. The CFI is also now proudly displaying a 2015 OEW calendar on the wall in the PT room!

OEW SKYDIVE
2014 saw 3 Adaptive Athletes get their USPA “ A” license in skydiving.
Many others started the program but due to medical needs and busy personal schedules, placed a hold on their training.  We are looking forward to some of them returning in 2015 and finishing their certifications.  We have set our budget for 2015.  OEW would like to quadruple the certifications next year.  Yes, we want to increase that much!!   We have 2 Adaptive Athletes approved to start in the new year.  Do you know someone you would like to get their A license? Let us know – a.sells@enduringwarrior.org.

OEW SWAGG
Over the past months we have enjoyed creating new merchandise and we will continue to add products to our online store.  OEW Ranger Panties, CrossFit shorts, OEW coins and tank tops were fan favorites. OEW beanies and sweatshirts will be available online soon. The recent Veteran’s Day coin sale was a success as were sales at events like Army Ten Miler and our various race events.  We are thankful for all of our supporters and our friends at Zomes Design that work with us to get the job done. There's still time to make an order for Christmas as well! Go to http://bit.ly/oewstore and check out ALL of our designs!
